A celebrant ceremony is a personalized, non-religious celebration that can be completely tailored to you. Unlike religious ceremonies or registry office weddings, celebrant ceremonies have no restrictions on content, location, or format - they're entirely about what matters to you.

Are celebrant ceremonies legally binding?

In England, celebrant ceremonies are currently not legally binding on their own. You'll need to complete the legal paperwork separately at a registry office, which can be done before or after your celebrant ceremony. Many couples find this gives them the best of both worlds - a quick, simple legal ceremony and a beautiful, personal celebration.

Yes! That's one of the beautiful things about celebrant ceremonies. Whether you want to get married in your garden, on a beach, in a barn, or on top of a mountain - we can make it happen.

What's the difference between a celebrant and a registrar?

Accepted Answer

Registrars can perform legally binding ceremonies but are restricted in what they can include and where they can perform them. Celebrants can't make ceremonies legally binding, but we have complete freedom to create exactly the ceremony you want, wherever you want it.

What does the planning process involve?

After our initial consultation and once you book, I'll send you questionnaires to help me understand your story. Then we work together - through calls, emails, or in-person meetings - to create your perfect ceremony. The process is as easy and stress-free as I can make it!

How many meetings do we have?

This depends entirely on what works best for you. Some couples like regular video calls, others prefer email exchanges, and some want in-person meetings. We'll work together however suits you best until you have a ceremony you're 100% happy with.

Can we make changes to the ceremony?

Of course! Your ceremony includes unlimited edits until you're completely happy. I want you to love every word of your ceremony.

Do you coordinate with other vendors?

Yes! For weddings, I'm happy to coordinate with photographers, musicians, venues, and other suppliers to ensure everything runs smoothly on your day.

How far in advance should we book?

I recommend booking as early as possible, especially for popular wedding dates (May through September weekends). However, I can often help with shorter notice if I'm available.

How do we know if you're the right celebrant for us?

That's exactly what our initial consultation is for! We'll have a relaxed chat (usually via Zoom) about your vision, style, and what you're hoping for. There's no pressure - it's just a chance to see if we're a good fit.

Absolutely! Complete respect for all beliefs, backgrounds, and love stories. Whether you want a traditional ceremony or something themed around Game of Thrones, my job is to create a ceremony that shouts "YOU!"

Yes! Whilst I'm not a religious minister, I can include prayers, hymns, blessings, or readings from religious texts if they're meaningful to you. The ceremony is completely tailored to your beliefs and values.

I love incorporating meaningful traditions! Handfasting, sand ceremonies, tree planting, candle lighting - if it's important to you, we can include it.

What are your fees?

My wedding package starts from £750 and includes everything you need for a beautiful, bespoke ceremony. I'll provide a detailed quote after our initial consultation based on your specific requirements.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is free within a 25-mile radius of home (PR3 postcode). Beyond that, I charge 45p per additional mile.

Yes! Rehearsals are available as an optional extra for weddings and can be really helpful for larger or more complex ceremonies.

Can children be involved in the ceremony?

Absolutely! Children can be ring bearers, do readings, light candles, or have special roles created just for them. Family ceremonies are some of my favorites.

What happens if you're ill on our ceremony day?

I take my commitment to you very seriously and have never missed a ceremony due to illness. However, I do have a network of trusted celebrant colleagues who could step in if absolutely necessary.

How long are ceremonies?

This depends entirely on what you want! Ceremonies can be anywhere from 15 minutes for intimate celebrations to 45 minutes for more elaborate affairs. On average, most ceremonies are 20 - 25 minutes long. We'll plan the perfect length for your style and guest list.

What should we do about sound systems?

For outdoor ceremonies or larger gatherings, you may need to arrange a sound system with microphones and speakers.
